UKCA or CE
UKCA marking cost: what you pay, and when CE is enough
Updated
For many products sold in Great Britain the cost question starts with whether you need UKCA at all: the UK continues to recognise the CE marking for many product types, so a maker selling in both markets may only need one conformity route.
Does Great Britain still accept CE?
GOV.UK says that where the aims and requirements of product regulations meet the needs of the UK, the UK continues to recognise the CE marking, alongside or in place of the UKCA marking, for the Great Britain market under The Product Safety and Metrology (Amendment) Regulations 2024. Check the sector table for your product.

Not every product needs a marking: GOV.UK says conformity marking is only necessary if required under sector-specific regulations.

What the published prices say
One service sells a package covering EU and UK marking at €2,200, against €3,800 for its CE marking work from evidence gaps to the technical file.

A maker based outside the UK may also need a UK authorised representative: one service publishes UK plans from £200 a year.

Keeping the file
GOV.UK says the documentation must be kept for the period the legislation specifies, typically 10 years after each individual product is placed on the Great Britain market. Budget for keeping it current, not only for writing it.
